Tournament Blogs

Traditionally every year since the blog has started, I have been attending the Brisbane International and Australian Open.

It's my favourite time of the year for the blog. For a week or so every year, the number of visitors on my blog suddenly fluctuates, and I stay up late nights in Melbourne in a hotel churning out long and elaborate reports.

I really enjoy reporting and watching live matches. It's much easier to observe things, and to provide a much more well-rounded perspective of what's going on, with the crowd atmosphere, the players, myself, etc. It also provides more opportunity to experiment with ways of writing.

In 2010, I went to the Australian Open with a media accreditation pass, which was very exciting. In 2009, my Australian Open blogs were published on Tennis Week, an online magazine which unfortunately no longer exists. I consider it my biggest writing achievement, so I can tell non-tennis people who wouldn't be able to appreciate my tennis knowledge that I can actually write proper articles.
